Students who do not earn a passing grade in a qualifying course will be eligible to take a Competency Exam prior to final grade submission. Students who meet the passing requirements of the Competency Exam will receive a final course grade of “C.”

Eligibility Requirements: Students must achieve a minimum exam average of 64.45% in any course that includes at least two scheduled exams, including OSCEs (Objective Structured Clinical Examinations). Eligible students may attempt one Competency Exam per qualifying course, with no restriction on the total number of Competency Exams taken across the curriculum.

Ineligibility: Students who fail a course comprising fewer than two scheduled exams, including OSCEs, are not eligible for the Competency Exam. These students must instead follow the standard remediation process as outlined in the COP Student Handbook.

Note: Competency Exams only apply to students in the NexGen Curriculum (Class of 2030 and beyond).
